Message from the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation Executive Director…

As we enter the holiday season, it's a time for giving, but it's clear to me that Shelter Foundation supporters are “givers” all year long. On behalf of the women and children we help at shelters across the country, I'd like to offer my thanks and appreciation to all our supporters. To those of you who make financial donations, organize fundraising events, sponsor a friend or colleague, respond to the most pressing needs faced by the shelters in your community and generally act as an advocate for putting an end to domestic violence – please know that you are making a difference.

At the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, we are fortunate to have people go outside their comfort zone to help our cause, as evidenced by the sixty “trekkers” who were part of the Machu Picchu Challenge for Shelter this year, our first challenge trip that led to the most funds raised through a single event in Shelter Foundation history. We also have supporters who spend many weeks organizing and hosting the National Garage Sale for Shelter, live and silent auctions, 'Walk a Mile in Her Shoes' events, fundraisers that involve friends, family and clients, and every possible configuration of sporting events (golf, bowling, softball, bike rides and more!) I know that the time, effort, resources and personal commitment that each and every one of you gives to the Shelter Foundation is an expression of your desire to help others in need in your community. I hope that you feel the joy that comes with giving – now and all year long – and with bringing safety and hope to women and children fleeing domestic violence.
